Sharon obtained an LLB from the University of Adelaide in 1979 and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 1980. She was admitted to practice in 1980 and worked as a solicitor and barrister in a wide range of legal fields before establishing her own practice in 1991. Sharon has operated her own legal firm since that time, working extensively in the area of Family and De Facto law including complex property and children's matters.
Sharon is a platinum member of the Law Society of SA and the Family Law section of the Law Council of Australia. She has also been a member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal (now part of the AAT). Sharon is also a committee member of the Talkback Association for Aphasia Inc, which aims to assist people suffering with loss of language skills as a result of stroke or other brain injury.
